Welcome to Cafe Marcello!

Gusto Café, celebrating its 26th birthday this year, has been looking for a special coffee brand for the last 4 years; one that a decent cafe in Buda and the best guests in the world deserve. We grew increasingly convinced that it was Arabica coffee we were looking for and our regular customers confirmed our suspicion. It is quite a burdensome task to get hold of a truly high quality Arabica in Buda (as well as in Europe). 

Then, thanks to a coincidence and a friend, we got acquainted with Eduardo, one of the owners of a multi-generational coffee plantation in El Salvador. El Salvador is a small Central American country where, due to the high-altitude landscape, the temperate climate, the crystal clear waters, the volcanic soil and the extraordinary work of proud and meticulous planters, the world's finest coffee of outstanding quality grows.

When we tasted Eduardo's coffee, we knew that we craved something exactly along those lines as well: freshly roasted; amazing quality; single origin Arabica coffee from the Santa Cristina farm. It was on the spot that we understood the difference between buying coffee from a faceless wholesaler or directly from a real person's plantation. We know exactly by whom, where, and when the carefully selected, raw, green coffee beans were harvested, as well as the exact time they were dispatched from the plantation in Santa Cristina, El Salvador, to arrive to Frankel Street in Buda. While sampling the coffee, we purchased a coffee roaster and a Rocket coffee maker to have the selected Sarchimor, Pacas and Pacamara coffee varieties freshly roasted in 4 distinct ways; to have them brewed in one of the best coffee machines in the world; and to have them served to you by our baristas here, on Frankel Leo Street. 

In the meantime, we decided to offer top quality sweets along with top quality coffee as we ought to and as is appropriate. We have uncovered the best Hungarian chocolate manufactures for you, so you can enjoy their award-winning masterpieces at our cafe or at home, as a take-away.  

Naturally, all this would not have been possible at Gusto, so we moved to the neighborhood to let Gusto's little child start out with the same love and care, Guszti and András started Gusto with.

This is the short story of the birth of Café Marcello.
